Reviews

This book is awesome from the first word. I cannot believe how long I have to wait to find out what happens to Liana and Grey. If you haven’t read this book and you like AI and dystopian books, then you absolutely have to pickup this series! Bella Forrest is a master word genius and all her stories are super addicting.

I felt like their was too many pauses, and too many questions asked by Liana to Liana. In book 1, I appreciated being inside her head and listening to that fieriness and rebel ideas. In book 2, however, I just felt like it was a bit wearing and boring. She had ideas and internal doubt about EVERYTHING, which is a surprise change from book 1!

Spoilers

Tien shows Liana and the gang to the new home. They set up shop and start to look around this new home to make sure that they can get away easily. Liana finds a little room that has an AI that calls himself Cypio.

This new AI is not connected to the core in any way it seems and is the original program that the Cypio in the core was based off of. To make it easier to distinguish them, this new one starts to call himself Leo.

Leo explains about how Cypio was created by the creator of the tower. Especially that there were actually six other AI’s that all joined together to make Cypio. They all are vitally necessary for Cypio to function. The AI that is named Jasper, is found out to currently be hiding in the medica.

The vast majority of this book is Liana trying to find her way as the leader of this group.

The more they venture out into the main part of the tower, Leo wants to come with and starts to download himself into a net. A net is a little piece that is put into the nape of someones neck and it has little coils that wrap around the brain. It is able to track what emotions someone is feeling and call others. This way there are no phones or anything like them, just call the person over it.

Suddenly, Liana hears that someone wants to have a meeting with her. The day she goes to the meeting, she meets the leader of the mechanics, Mechanic Green, and the leader of water treatment. Surprisingly, they give her a deal that if she kills Devin then all crimes that she is accused of will be forgiven and she and her gang will be able to rejoin society.

During this meeting, Mechanic Green eludes to the idea that there are many groups trying to take down Cypio. These groups are called the legends (keep this in mind, it comes up in later books a lot).

Later, Liana makes a move to try to get Jasper out of the media and save him. Liana, Gray, Leo, and Quess enact their plan to save him. Going into the medica, they have a funny scene in which they say that Liana is pregnant with either Quesses or Grays kid.

The plan works for the most part and now, all that is left is for them to escape. It goes roughly as planned till they hit a room with Devin and a couple others inside. Eavesdropping, Liana learns that Devin is part of this group that is trying to subvert Cypio.

Unluckily, the only escape for them would be to go through Devin, so Liana and Gray take the fight straight to Devin. They lose horribly (what did they expect, he’s the head of all Knights). Devin then, puts his baton, it like a taser at the end of it, to the back of Grays head, electrocuting his net which leaves burns all-throughout Grays brain.

Now comes the confusing part.

Leo insults himself into Grays head as a net and takes over control of Gray. So Leo is now controlling Grays actions! These characters before were kinda hard to distinguish and now almost impossible to do so.

Then the story ends with no one knowing what is going to happen to them.
